One thing people worry about most when getting braces is whether or not it is going to hurt. Braces can cause slight discomfort at first, but everyone’s pain tolerance is different. We recommend taking Ibuprofen as needed for a few days after having braces put on. After a week or so, you will not even notice that they are there.
We typically see patients every 4-8 weeks for orthodontic adjustments.
The rubber bands or “elastics” align your bite and jaw position during orthodontic treatment. In order to get your braces off on time, it is important to wear your elastics as directed by the doctor and assistants.
Retainers are a lifetime commitment! You should wear your retainers for the rest of your life.
Yes! Dr. Witherow actually recommends that you see your dentist every 3-4 months while in braces. Dr. Witherow and your general dentist will work together throughout treatment to ensure you have a happy, healthy smile.
